Turf Wars

Seems like the Warriors are pretty upset with Baron Davis signing (in principle) to the Clips. Golden State puts a monkey wrench in L.A.'s potential one-two punch of B. Diddy and Elton Brand, by offering Brand a maximum salary contract.

I think this is a big power move by G.S. It gives them a presence down low, and it'll help Monta Ellis look better making that switch over to full-time point guard.

Slow Down

Number 1 draft pick Derrick Rose is due in court next week for an excessive speeding ticket he received in late April.

Who hasn't had an excessive speeding ticket in their time? Especially when you're Rose's age. I don't think its a big deal, but it was already breaking news on ESPN and USAToday. Welcome to the league kid.

...When I Was Back Home

I'm a little late posting this one. Baron Davis and the Clippers agree in principle to a 5-year, $65 million contract. The move brings B-Diddy back to his hometown of Los Angeles and moves the Clips from a perennial lottery team to a contender in the West.

Now I don't think that the Clippers are going to win the championship next year, but with Phoenix and Dallas coming off disappointing playoff runs and getting up there in age, it's hard to count the Clippers out of the playoff hunt out West. However, the key to their contention is staying healthy. Elton Brand will most likely be back in a Clippers uniform, but he and Davis have struggled with injuries throughout their respected careers.

I, for one, hope they do stay healthy. Baron's one of my favorite point guards and I'd love to see him and NY-native Brand go deep in the playoffs in '09.

PS: Knicks lose...again.

Must Be The Money

My inbox on my Blackberry Curve was filled with texts regarding free agent signings in the league. Sorry I didn't post this sooner. I've been busy working on my game too...trying to get a piece of the pie. J/k.

Anyway, to my fellow Knicks fans, if the story about the Brooklyn Nets signing LeBron over your beloved team didn't hurt enough, maybe this one will. Don't worry, we'll make due with this guy, right??

Hello Brooklyn

I know a lot of Knicks fans are hoping that their beloved basketball team will eventually get under the cap and make a push for LeBron James when he becomes a free agent in '10. If you're one of them, this story might break your optimistic hopes.

My opinion: Cleveland is not going to let King James go that easily. I'm sure they won't let Arenas see more money for 6 years than he will (see here).
